Oregon Just Transition Alliance advocates for Fair Energy Act to combat utility rate hikes

It also proposes a system for planning rate increases well in advance, allowing for smaller, more manageable hikes over time. Carla Moberg, a Salem resident and senior citizen, shared her personal struggles with escalating utility costs, revealing that her electric bill soared to $465 a month during cold spells. She described the difficult choices her family faces, such as sacrificing warmth for medication and food. Moberg's experience resonated with many Oregonians, as evidenced by a flood of conversations on local forums about the widespread impact of rising energy prices.
