Henry County approves bus stop plan and considers zoning change for office space

The Henry County Board of Commissioners convened on May 6, 2025, to discuss several key issues, including the approval of a new bus stop placemaking plan and a zoning request for a property on Old South Ola Road.

A significant portion of the meeting focused on the implementation of the Henry County bus stop placemaking plan. Commissioners emphasized the importance of safety in the design and construction of transit stops, particularly in relation to ongoing SPLOST projects. The applicant seeks to rezone the property from residential agricultural (RA) to neighborhood commercial (C1) for the purpose of establishing a single office space. The proposal includes only interior modifications to the existing structure, with no exterior changes planned. The zoning advisory board had previously recommended approval of this request, which aligns with the future land use designation of village commercial.
