Cameron County workforce board presents insights on employment and income challenges

Vela also shared labor market information, revealing that Cameron County has approximately 170,000 employed individuals across 835 different occupations and 20 industries. He noted that healthcare and social assistance represent the largest sector, accounting for 29% of employment in the area.

The meeting concluded with a call for collaboration among local leaders to address economic challenges and enhance workforce development initiatives in Cameron County. The council members expressed appreciation for the insights provided by Vela, recognizing the importance of aligning efforts to improve the local economy.
