The Village of Wheeling Board Meeting on May 5, 2025, focused on a proposed development project that aims to transform the former Buca De Beppo restaurant into an immersive cricket simulator entertainment venue. The meeting began with an outline of the concept review process, led by a board member who emphasized that the current discussion would provide non-binding feedback to the petitioners, which will guide them in preparing a formal application.
Community Development Director Ross Klicher introduced the Hamrow Investment Group, which is spearheading the project. The proposed venue will feature cricket simulators, a restaurant, a bar and lounge area, a gaming room, and private event spaces. An addition of 4,950 square feet is planned for the west side of the building, along with improvements to the parking lot to accommodate more vehicles.

Subscribe for Free Manish Chaudhry, a representative of the investment group, explained that the concept is similar to golf simulators and aims to cater to a diverse audience, not just cricket enthusiasts. He noted that cricket's popularity is growing in the U.S., especially following the recent Cricket World Cup hosted in the country. The venue will be family-friendly, with no age restrictions for participants.
Trustees raised questions about the uniqueness of the concept, with Chaudhry confirming that the only similar facility in the U.S. is located in Dallas, Texas. The venue will also include a full kitchen serving a variety of cuisines, with an emphasis on creating a distinct dining experience separate from their existing Indian restaurants.
The board members expressed interest in the project, particularly regarding its potential to attract a broad demographic and enhance local entertainment options. The meeting concluded with a consensus that the board is generally supportive of the project, paving the way for the petitioners to move forward with their formal application.
