Mayor Hamant Morate read the proclamation, highlighting Woman's Space's extensive history of providing critical services since its founding in 1977. The organization has assisted over 128,000 women, 17,600 children, and 9,000 men, along with responding to more than 323,000 hotline calls. The proclamation encourages residents to participate by placing luminaries along their driveways and sidewalks as a visible symbol of support for the cause.

The council emphasized the importance of community involvement in combating interpersonal violence, urging every household to join in this symbolic gesture. The proceeds from the Communities of Light project will fund essential services for victims of domestic violence and human trafficking.

In addition to the proclamation, the council provided updates on local services, including leaf collection and holiday office closures. The meeting concluded with a reminder of the upcoming tree lighting ceremony on December 8, further fostering community spirit during the holiday season.
