Chandler Unified School District celebrates A+ schools and increases scholarships

The Chandler Unified School District (CUSD) celebrated significant achievements and community initiatives during its regular business meeting on May 7, 2025. Among the highlights was the recognition of three schools that received the prestigious A+ School of Excellence award, showcasing the dedication and pride of students and educators alike. Board members expressed heartfelt appreciation for teachers and principals, emphasizing their crucial roles in fostering a supportive educational environment.

In a notable community effort, the Chandler Care hygiene kit drive at Bryce Elementary successfully collected supplies to create 97 hygiene kits, with additional contributions bringing the total to 108. This initiative underscores the district's commitment to supporting families in need.

The meeting also spotlighted the Chandler Education Foundation's scholarship program, which awarded nearly $336,000 to 239 students this year, a significant increase from the previous year. The foundation's impact scholarships, aimed at students demonstrating community service and academic excellence, saw a rise from 11 to 32 recipients, highlighting the district's focus on recognizing and supporting student achievements.

Additionally, board members reported on various community events, including enlistment ceremonies for students joining the military and performances celebrating the arts, reinforcing the district's holistic approach to education that extends beyond traditional academics.

As the school year approaches its conclusion, with the last day of classes on May 22, the district is preparing for summer programs aimed at enhancing academic skills for students from kindergarten through high school. Registration for these programs is currently open, providing opportunities for continued learning and engagement.

The meeting concluded with a collective acknowledgment of Mother's Day, honoring the contributions of mothers and caregivers in the community.
