Residents are advised to place their trash at the curb no later than 6 AM on their designated collection day. A comprehensive fact sheet detailing acceptable items for collection, as well as guidelines for preparation, is available on the township's website. Notably, items such as railroad ties, pianos, concrete, and hazardous materials are prohibited from curbside pickup.
Grass clippings should be disposed of with regular trash in enclosed plastic bags or containers with lids, as they will not be collected in recycling buckets. Loose grass clippings are also not permitted at the curb or in the street, and residents are reminded to keep debris separate from grass to avoid collection issues.
Looking ahead, the township is hosting a Spring Cleanup Day this Saturday at the Department of Public Works located at 70 South Field Road. The event runs from 8 AM to 2 PM and is exclusively for West Windsor residents, who must provide proof of residency. This initiative offers residents a chance to declutter by donating or disposing of unwanted items. Acceptable items for disposal include broken furniture, wood fencing, and various recyclable materials such as propane tanks, car batteries, and electronics. However, mattresses, paints, and construction debris will not be accepted.
These efforts reflect West Windsor Township's commitment to maintaining a clean and sustainable community while encouraging residents to participate actively in local environmental initiatives.
