TCS honors K-12 winners of the Be Amazing writing contest 2024-2025

Tuscaloosa City Schools celebrated the creativity and talent of its students during the May 6, 2025, board meeting, highlighting the winners of the 2024-2025 Spring Superintendents Be Amazing Writing Contest. Dr. Pope, the superintendent, expressed excitement as he recognized the district's young writers, emphasizing the importance of writing excellence across all grade levels.

The contest invited students from K through 12 to explore the theme "Be Amazing," encouraging them to articulate what this concept means to them. Each school participated, with students crafting essays that ranged from persuasive pieces in the lower grades to more complex argumentative essays in the upper grades. This approach aimed to foster higher-order thinking and rigorous writing skills among students.

Dr. Pope noted that while some winners were unable to attend the meeting due to other commitments, their achievements were still celebrated. The competition involved all students within each grade level, creating a spirited environment where young writers competed against their peers across the district.

This initiative not only showcases the writing talents of Tuscaloosa's youth but also reinforces the district's commitment to academic excellence and the development of critical thinking skills.
