North Kansas City Schools welcomes new leaders in technology and athletics

The North Kansas City School District Board of Education meeting on May 6, 2025, highlighted the introduction of three key new hires, signaling a strong commitment to enhancing educational leadership within the district.

Dr. Kevin Whaley was welcomed as the new Chief Information Officer, set to join the district this summer. With 25 years of experience in education, Whaley previously served as the Executive Director of Technology at Lee's Summit School District. He began his career in North Kansas City Schools, making his return a notable homecoming. His role will focus on leading the vision and implementation of the district's technology strategy.

Dr. David Garrison, a familiar face in the district, was appointed as the Director of K-12 Activities and Athletics. Garrison has extensive experience, including his recent position as Assistant Principal and Activities Director at North Kansas City High School. He expressed enthusiasm for this new role, viewing it as a dream opportunity to collaborate with staff and enhance student experiences.

Lastly, Ashley Dahl was introduced as the new Assistant Principal at Nashua. With 23 years in education, Dahl has held various roles, including classroom teacher and principal in the Smithville School District. She is eager to build relationships within the Maplewood community and continue fostering success.
