Boise Airport implements Real ID rollout and welcomes Frontier Airlines return

The Boise Airport Commission meeting on May 8, 2025, focused on the implementation of the Real ID program and the return of Frontier Airlines to the Boise market.

During the meeting, officials reported that operations related to the rollout of Real ID have been running smoothly at Boise Airport. They emphasized the importance of contingency plans in place to manage any potential issues. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has collaborated closely with local law enforcement to ensure efficient processing of passengers.

The meeting clarified the distinction between verified and unverified Real IDs. Verified Real IDs, marked with a star, require additional documentation to confirm residency in Idaho, such as a utility bill or government-issued ID. In contrast, unverified IDs lack this star and were issued before the new requirements were established in 2005. Passengers with unverified IDs must provide more documentation, including a Social Security card or birth certificate, to confirm their identity and residency.

In addition to the Real ID discussion, the commission announced that Frontier Airlines will resume service in Boise starting May 15, offering flights to Denver three times a week. This addition will increase the total number of airlines operating at Boise Airport to ten, enhancing travel options for local residents.
