A historic resource survey was conducted in two neighborhoods, Shalimar Terrace and Glenview Estates, to document and understand the area's historic buildings. Future surveys are planned for Pearsall Park and Park Avenue in fiscal year 2026. The commission is also working on design guidelines for local historic districts, particularly focusing on the Old Nampa area, which is being evaluated for designation on the National Register of Historic Places.
In terms of public art, the city has refined its codes to streamline the process for art installations. An art maintenance fund was introduced in the fiscal year 2025 budget to ensure the upkeep of public art, including sculptures in downtown roundabouts.
The meeting also addressed the recent reorganization of the downtown administrative functions, merging the Business Improvement District (BID) and the downtown board into a single entity. This change aims to enhance efficiency and better serve local businesses and residents. The downtown area has seen significant revitalization, with ongoing support for local events, including the popular Third Thursday gatherings, which attract around 2,500 attendees.
Overall, the workshop underscored Nampa's ongoing commitment to community development, historic preservation, and support for local businesses, setting a positive tone for future initiatives.
