The Scottsbluff City Council has approved a community festival permit for the popular "Bands on Broadway" event, allowing for the blocking off of parking stalls on the east side of the Eighteenth Street Plaza every Thursday from June 5 to August 7, 2025. This decision, made during the council meeting on April 21, 2025, aims to enhance access for musicians and food vendors, addressing the growing needs of the festival.
Debbie Wagner, representing the festival committee, explained that the request for formal permission to block off these parking areas comes in response to new safety regulations and logistical challenges faced by food vendors. The committee has experienced increased restrictions regarding space and safety, particularly concerning the use of propane tanks and the layout of vendor spaces.
