Principal Salts honors Oxhead Road students during awards ceremony

During the recent Middle Country Central School District Board of Education meeting, Principal Phyllis Salts of Oxhead Road Elementary School celebrated the achievements of her first-grade students, particularly those in Miss Puzio's class. Salts expressed her pride in the students' hard work and their supportive nature towards one another, highlighting their role as positive examples for older students in the school. She awarded certificates to several students, acknowledging their accomplishments and thanking their families for fostering such a nurturing environment.

The meeting also featured the recognition of academic excellence among high school students. The salutatorian of Newfield High School, Josh Singh, was introduced, noted for his impressive academic record, including a weighted GPA of 102.317 and participation in 13 college and advanced placement courses. Singh is on track to graduate with over 40 college credits, showcasing the district's commitment to academic rigor and student success.

These celebrations of student achievement reflect the district's ongoing efforts to promote a supportive and academically challenging environment. The next meeting on June 11 will continue this recognition with the acknowledgment of Center Reach High School's valedictorian, Val Valencel, who is currently competing in a robotics competition in Texas. This highlights the district's dedication to not only academic excellence but also extracurricular engagement among its students.
