Milford City Council members have taken a significant step towards improving efficiency in managing nuisance properties and planning processes by approving the adoption of iWORKS software. During the meeting on May 8, 2025, a city official highlighted the software's ability to streamline operations, making it easier to track nuisance cases and manage permits online.

The current system, described as time-consuming and inefficient, requires manual creation of letters for nuisance cases. In contrast, iWORKS automates this process, allowing users to input codes that automatically generate letters with the necessary property and violation details. This not only saves time but also enhances accuracy in communication.

The council was informed that the software would enable residents to submit applications for permits, such as fence installations, online, facilitating a more user-friendly experience. The official noted that several city staff members, including the nuisance inspector and police chief, expressed strong support for the software, which has a proven track record of 26 years without increasing costs for existing customers.

In addition to the software approval, the council discussed the need to update the property maintenance code. The introduction of a new nuisance inspector presents an opportunity to address existing discrepancies in local ordinances. The proposed update would align with the International Property Maintenance Code, providing stronger enforcement tools for the inspector.
