Lake County designates May 2025 as Community Action Month to combat poverty

The Lake County Board of Supervisors officially proclaimed May 2025 as Community Action Month, highlighting the vital role of community action agencies in fostering economic independence and resilience among local families. Supervisor Pysco led the presentation, emphasizing that community action programs are designed to empower hardworking families, moving them away from reliance on government assistance.

The proclamation recognized North Coast Opportunities (NCO) as the primary community action agency serving both Lake and Mendocino Counties. NCO's new CEO, Dan, addressed the board, reflecting on the agency's long-standing commitment to combating poverty since its inception in 1968.
