Vista Verde students excel in state speech and history competitions

The Greenfield Union Elementary School District (GUSD) Board Meeting held on May 8, 2025, celebrated notable achievements among students and recognized their contributions to academic competitions.

The meeting commenced with a round of applause for Johani, a standout student who excelled in speech and debate. Johani advanced to the state level and achieved first place in her category for extemporaneous speech, a significant accomplishment that was met with enthusiasm from attendees.

Following this recognition, the board highlighted the achievements of two students from Vista Verde. Camila Munoz and her peer were acknowledged for their innovative work on a podcast submitted for California History Day. Their project earned them an invitation to compete at the state level, marking a historic moment for Vista Verde.
