Scottsdale Food Bank expands operations under Jonathan Montoya's leadership

The Scottsdale Housing Agency Governing Board and Human Services Advisory Commission meeting on May 8, 2025, highlighted a significant milestone for the local food bank, which has successfully transitioned to a new facility. Sue, a representative from the food bank, praised Jonathan Montoya, the human services representative, for his dedication and hard work in ensuring smooth operations during the move.

The food bank's new location at 7601 East McKellips Road is now fully operational, featuring organized food items and a pantry area equipped with freezers and refrigerators. The team celebrated the transition with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in March, thanking community partners and volunteers who contributed to the move.

During the presentation, Sue detailed the food bank's programs, emphasizing that food boxes include not just non-perishable items but also fresh produce, protein, dairy, hygiene products, and even pet food. The food bank serves a diverse clientele, including Scottsdale residents, seniors, and individuals experiencing homelessness. In the fiscal year 2024 through March 2025, the food bank provided over 3,000 food boxes and 236,000 pounds of fresh items, serving more than 15,000 households.

The meeting also addressed the need for more volunteers, as the food bank aims to expand its volunteer base from 34 to 50. Jonathan noted that the food bank operates daily, and volunteers can contribute in three-hour shifts. The community's support remains crucial as the food bank continues to address food insecurity in Scottsdale.
