Pottstown honors Officer Ryan Guth as 2024 Police Officer of the Year

The Pottstown Committee of the Whole meeting on May 7, 2025, highlighted the recognition of Officer Ryan Guth as the 2024 Police Officer of the Year. Chief Markowitz presented the award, praising Officer Guth for his dedicated service since joining the Pottstown Police Department in November 2015.

Officer Guth has played a vital role in both the patrol division and the special operations unit. His current responsibilities include being a member of the Montgomery County Drug Task Force and the Major Incident Response Team. He is known for his proactive approach to community policing, which has fostered positive relationships with local business owners and residents.

Throughout 2024, Officer Guth's efforts led to significant law enforcement achievements, including serving over 70 criminal warrants and making more than 40 drug-related arrests, along with three illegal firearm arrests. His engagement with the community extended to homeless encampments, where he built rapport with unhoused individuals, further aiding in crime prevention and investigation.
