Recreation and parks took center stage at the Glynn County Quarterly Execution Review, with key updates on several park projects that promise to enhance community spaces. Ray Cason, the park services division chief, and Tiffany Brain, the recreation services division chief, presented the latest developments, starting with the ongoing renovations at Ballard Park.
The project at Ballard Park includes replacing old ball field fencing, demolishing outdated tennis courts, and constructing two new batting cages. Cason reported that the contractor is set to pour concrete for the new cages next week, contingent on weather conditions. The project is currently on budget, with approximately $200,000 spent out of the allocated $300,000, leaving $100,000 for potential additions, such as a dog park.

Cason emphasized the importance of Selden Park, noting its popularity among community members, particularly for weekend soccer games. The meeting concluded with a mention of the Mallory Park drainage and parking project, with field engineering manager Adam Cothern set to provide further insights in future discussions.
