Palmetto City Hall to consolidate polling for Coweta County voters in June election

In a meeting held on May 8, 2025, the Fulton County Board of Registration & Elections discussed preparations for the upcoming June elections, which will include a unique arrangement involving voters from both Fulton and Coweta counties. The city of Palmetto, traditionally responsible for its municipal elections, has requested assistance from Fulton County to manage the election process this year. This change will see approximately 300 Coweta County voters participating in the municipal election at Palmetto City Hall, a shift from their usual voting locations.

For over three decades, Palmetto voters have navigated between different polling places for municipal and county elections. This year, however, the integration of Coweta County voters into the Palmetto election process means that all voters will now report to a single location, simplifying the voting experience. The board assured that there would be no additional costs incurred by the city of Palmetto for this arrangement, aside from some logistical adjustments.

As the meeting progressed, board members expressed concerns about voter notification regarding the changes in polling locations. Election officials confirmed that updated voter cards would be mailed out by May 17, ensuring that all affected voters are informed ahead of the election. Additionally, signage will be placed at polling locations to further communicate these changes, especially given the anticipated low turnout for the municipal race.
