The Lebanon Community School Corporation held its LHS Honors Night on May 8, 2025, celebrating the achievements of students through various scholarships. The event recognized outstanding individuals who have excelled in academics and sports, with several scholarships awarded in memory of notable community members.
The evening began with the presentation of the Herschel Biddle Memorial Golf Scholarship, awarded by Louis Kraut to Dax Frost and Owen Bigler, each receiving $750. This scholarship honors the legacy of Virgil Biddle, who was passionate about golf and participated in the Lebanon Education Foundation's annual golf outing. Recipients were required to have played golf for at least two years at Lebanon High School (LHS) and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Subscribe for Free Next, the James Rosensteel Memorial Basketball Scholarship was presented by Caitlin Rosensteel and her family to Claire Bowling and Wesley Byrd, each receiving $3,000. This scholarship commemorates James Rosensteel, a respected coach and athletic director at LHS. Eligible recipients had to participate in the LHS basketball program and demonstrate sportsmanship, character, and leadership.
The Jay Anderson Memorial Swimming Award followed, with Phil Levine presenting $500 scholarships to Kylie Rodriguez and Camden Perrine. This award honors Jay Anderson, a coach at LHS, and is given to seniors who exemplify good sportsmanship and the ability to make swimming enjoyable.
Gary Jones presented several scholarships, including the Jones Hayes Jones Scholarship of $750 to William Meyer, the Joan A. Hayes Memorial Scholarship of $750 to Ava Sussong, and the Luther Hayes Memorial Scholarship of $750 to Elliot Carr. Each scholarship has specific eligibility criteria, such as plans to attend Purdue University for Sussong and a background in engineering for Carr.
Additionally, the Shelby Jones Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Abigail Gilliams, also for $750, with a focus on students planning to major in agriculture. The Judy Cunningham Yes You Can Do It Scholarship, valued at $2,500, was awarded to Elliot Carr, honoring a former guidance counselor who played a significant role in a student's academic journey.
Lastly, the Keith Norton Memorial Engineering Scholarship of $1,000 was presented to Camden Perrine by Keith Norton’s grandchildren, aimed at students planning to major in engineering at a four-year college or university.
Overall, the LHS Honors Night highlighted the commitment of the Lebanon community to support and recognize the achievements of its students, fostering a spirit of excellence and remembrance through these scholarships.
