Alamo Heights School Board honors boys basketball team and Odyssey of the Mind qualifiers

The Alamo Heights Independent School District (AHISD) held a vibrant school board meeting on April 16, 2025, celebrating notable achievements among students and staff. The meeting commenced with a warm welcome to attendees and an invitation for public input, emphasizing community engagement.

A highlight of the evening was the recognition of the Alamo Heights High School boys basketball team, who achieved the remarkable feat of being UIL State semifinalists for the eighteenth consecutive season. The team finished second in their district and showcased an impressive playoff run, defeating several strong opponents. Coach Andrew Brewer credited the team's success to the dedication of the players, supportive parents, and a cohesive coaching staff, underscoring the importance of teamwork both on and off the court.

In addition to the basketball team, the board recognized the Odyssey of the Mind state qualifiers, comprising 11 teams from Cambridge, Woodridge, and the junior school. This program encourages students to harness their creativity to tackle unique challenges. The students, supported by their teachers, shared their team names and experiences, highlighting the collaborative spirit fostered through this initiative.
