Students excel at Texas Latin competition and prepare for upcoming events

Students from Alamo Heights ISD showcased their academic prowess at the Texas State Junior Classical League Latin competition in April, bringing home multiple top 10 individual awards. The recognition highlights the district's commitment to excellence in education and the importance of classical studies.

During the recent school board meeting, students shared their experiences and achievements, with seventh grader Phoenix Alvarez, sophomore Joseph Wilson, senior Josh Platts, and junior Leslie Randall taking the stage to celebrate their success. Their teacher, Ms. Gutierrez, was also acknowledged for her role in guiding these talented students.

As the school year approaches its end, the district is gearing up for several exciting events. A teacher appreciation breakfast is scheduled for May, honoring the hard work of educators. Additionally, a successful blood drive will return, this time featuring a mobile donation center provided by Texas Blood and Tissue, making it easier for community members to contribute.

Class officer elections are on the horizon, set for May 8, where students in grades 10 through 12 will elect their leaders, alongside freshman elections for the upcoming year. The selection of the incoming president and vice president is also underway, promising an engaging transition for the student body.
