Lincoln Park Fire Department celebrates 100 years with community events and advocacy

The Lincoln Park Fire Department is gearing up for a significant milestone, announcing a grand celebration for its 100th anniversary on June 1. The event, open to the public, will feature food, refreshments, and a "touch a truck" experience for children, making it a family-friendly occasion. Fire Chief emphasized the importance of community involvement, encouraging council members and the mayor to attend and honor the retirees who have served over the years.

In addition to the anniversary festivities, the Fire Department has been active in community outreach, including a recent reading month initiative in March where firefighters visited local elementary schools to promote literacy through storytelling. The department also participated in notable community events, such as the Red Wings alumni game and the renovation of the Balfour dorm, a project funded by the Detroit Pistons that totaled approximately $56,000.

Chief highlighted his commitment to regional advocacy as a member of the Downriver Communities Conference board, ensuring that Lincoln Park's needs are prioritized in discussions about fire service delivery and resource allocation. This leadership role is crucial for maintaining operational readiness and fostering partnerships with neighboring communities.
