Mount Hope High School celebrates National Merit Scholarship recipient and state champion athletes

The Bristol Warren Regional School District celebrated remarkable achievements at its recent meeting, highlighting the academic and athletic excellence of its students. Lucy O'Brien, a standout from Mount Hope High School, was honored for her prestigious National Merit Scholarship award, a distinction earned by less than 1% of applicants. Her hard work and dedication have set her apart, and she will continue her academic journey at Yale University this fall.

In addition to O'Brien's accolades, the meeting recognized the school's athletic achievements, including the girls gymnastics team, represented by state champion Cara Piscisil. The boys swim team also made waves this season, with several members, including Ben Coles and Colin Gagner, being celebrated for their outstanding performances. The boys swim team clinched the state championship, while the girls team finished as state runners-up.

The evening was filled with pride as the community came together to acknowledge these accomplishments. Superintendent Riley was absent due to personal reasons, but the spirit of celebration remained strong. The meeting concluded with the approval of the consent agenda, allowing the school committee to move forward with routine business.
