Oshkosh updates Menomonee Park Zoo with new murals and accessibility enhancements

The Oshkosh Advisory Parks Board is making significant strides in enhancing the visitor experience at Menomonee Park Zoo, with a focus on vibrant murals and improved accessibility. During the recent meeting, board members discussed a collaboration with Discover Oshkosh and the consulting firm Spark Towns to revamp the zoo's aesthetics.

The initiative aims to attract both residents and visitors by adding eye-catching murals to various buildings within the zoo. A call for artists has been issued, inviting local talent to submit proposals for murals that reflect the zoo's mission and its animal inhabitants. Selected artists will work closely with the parks department and Spark Towns to create a cohesive visual theme throughout the facility.

In addition to the murals, the board highlighted ongoing improvements to the zoo's infrastructure. Recent upgrades include making the Lakefly Cafe ADA accessible and enhancing the entryway to reduce confusion for visitors. The park staff has also replaced deteriorating asphalt and gravel pathways with safer, more accessible concrete surfaces.
