Cedar Crest High School Quiz Bowl team celebrated for winning league championship

The Cornwall-Lebanon School District held a public work session on May 12, 2025, highlighting the achievements of local students in academic competitions. The meeting began with Mr. Thomas presenting the Cedar Crest High School Quiz Bowl team, which recently secured the Lancaster Lebanon League championship. The team finished the regular season with an impressive 13-2 record and excelled in the playoffs, culminating in a decisive victory over a top-ranked opponent. This marks the team's third league title, showcasing their strong performance in one of the nation’s top quiz bowl leagues.

Mr. Thomas also noted that the team has qualified for the national championship tournament, set to take place over Memorial Day weekend in Atlanta, Georgia. The team members, including senior Viset Meng, who is recognized as one of the top scorers in school history, will compete against 335 teams from across the country.

Following the Quiz Bowl recognition, Mr. Stoddard introduced the Bridal School Technology Student Association (TSA) team, which had nine students qualify for the state conference—an achievement noted as the highest in recent years. The TSA is a prominent student-run organization focused on technology and problem-solving. The students participated in various events, with several earning top placements, including a ninth-place finish in an on-demand video competition and multiple trips to the stage for their innovative projects.

The meeting concluded with a break, allowing board directors to engage with attendees before resuming discussions on school district matters. The recognition of these student achievements underscores the district's commitment to fostering academic excellence and extracurricular involvement among its students.
