In a vibrant celebration of achievement, Deer Creek Academy proudly announced its largest graduating class to date, featuring 30 seniors from both traditional and virtual blended pathways. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as the school community prepared for the upcoming graduation festivities, set to culminate on May 22.
During the recent Deer Creek School District May Board Meeting, the accomplishments of students and staff were highlighted. Assistant Superintendent Christy Van Dorn received accolades as the OASA Area 7 Assistant Superintendent of the Year, a recognition that brought applause from the audience, even in her absence.

Subscribe for Free The meeting also celebrated the artistic talents of students, with seniors Kate Decker and Kimberly Keelan nominated for outstanding performance by an actress in the prestigious Kelli O'Hara Awards. Deer Creek High School's production of "Pippin" received a nomination for outstanding performance by an ensemble, with winners to be announced on May 30.
Athletic achievements were equally impressive, as the girls' tennis, girls' soccer, and boys' soccer teams secured spots in upcoming tournaments. Several players were recognized for their individual excellence, including a girl golfer, Lena Bowen, who earned All State honors, alongside boys soccer players named All State, All Conference, and All District.
In a significant recognition segment, Paloma Cortez Goodwin, alongside Principal Ashley Mackey, presented the Oklahoma Seal of Biliteracy to a group of exceptional students. This award, which signifies high proficiency in English and another language, is a prestigious honor achieved by less than 10% of graduating seniors nationwide. It underscores the importance of multilingualism in today’s global society, opening doors to future opportunities in education and careers.
