In a significant move for educators in North Bend, the North Bend School District 13 Board approved a new agreement with the North Bend Education Association (NBEA) during their recent meeting. The agreement, which spans from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2027, was reached after just three collaborative meetings, highlighting a positive and respectful negotiation process.
Key highlights of the agreement include a 5% cost of living adjustment in the first year, followed by a 4% increase in the second year, alongside a modest insurance contribution increase. Notably, the agreement introduces substantial stipends aimed at attracting and retaining specialized staff. School psychologists will receive a $15,000 stipend, while special education teachers will benefit from a $5,000 stipend. School nurses and counselors will also see a $3,000 stipend each.

Additionally, a new annual stipend of $1,500 will be awarded to teachers who obtain national board certification or hold a teacher leader license, further incentivizing professional development.
The board expressed satisfaction with the agreement, noting that 98.4% of certified staff who responded to a survey supported the new terms. The collaborative spirit of the negotiations was praised, with both sides emphasizing the importance of mutual respect throughout the process.
