A proposed affordable senior housing complex is making waves in Marietta, as city officials discuss variances needed for its development. Prestwick Land Holdings is seeking approval to build a four-story, 70-unit multifamily complex at the corner of Washington Avenue and Roswell Street, which will also include a 3,000 square foot commercial space.
During the city council work session, officials highlighted the project's partnership with the Marietta Housing Authority, emphasizing its potential to address the growing need for affordable housing for seniors. The proposed development will require three key variances: one to allow less than 20% of the floor area to be dedicated to commercial use, another to permit residential units on the ground floor, and a third to allow all units to be renter-occupied rather than limiting it to 5%.
