Lancaster Council honors Andrew Jackson girls basketball team for state championship victory

The Lancaster County Regular Council Meeting held on May 12, 2025, celebrated a significant achievement in local sports, recognizing the Andrew Jackson varsity girls basketball team for their remarkable success. The team won the state championship for the second consecutive year, marking their fourth overall title. This recognition highlights not only the team's athletic prowess but also the community's support for youth sports.

During the meeting, a proclamation was presented, detailing the team's impressive record of 29 wins for the season and an unblemished 12-0 record in regional play, extending their regional win streak to an impressive 67 games. The team, coached by Steven Fair and supported by assistant coaches Talmage Brevard, Shaquille Lamongo, Damon Pate, Taisha Brown, and manager Arianna Shropshire, was acknowledged for their hard work and dedication.
