Sweetwater School District approves salary schedules and appoints Fiona Berry to recreation board

The Sweetwater County School District #1 Board convened on May 12, 2025, to address several key agenda items, including salary agreements and policy approvals. The meeting began with a motion to return to regular session, which was unanimously approved.

The board proceeded to discuss the approval of the 2025-2026 negotiated agreement, pending the recommendation from the Sweetwater Education Association (SEA). The motion was moved by Mr. Garner and seconded by Dr. Franks, passing without opposition.

Next, the board approved salary increases for classified employees and administrators, as well as off-schedule salary payments. This motion was moved by Mr. Sorensen and seconded by Dr. Franks, also passing unanimously. Following this, the board approved the salary schedules for the 2025-2026 school year, effective July 1, 2025, with Mr. Garner moving the motion and Mrs. Wood seconding.

The consent agenda was then addressed, which included various matters delegated to the superintendent. The board approved the consent agenda in one motion, moved by Mr. Sorensen and seconded by Mrs. Wood.

An addendum was introduced to appoint Fiona Berry to a four-year term on the Sweetwater County School District #1 Recreation Board. This motion was moved by Mr. Sorensen and seconded by Mr. Garner, passing without opposition.

The board also approved Policy GD for support staff and Policy IICAB regarding transportation for student activities and out-of-town routes. During the discussion on Policy IICAB, Mr. Garner raised a question about bus equipment requirements, which was clarified by the administration.

In the information section, Dr. Libby provided an update on the vacancy list, noting that while it appeared extensive, many recent hires would soon be removed from the list as they were approved during the meeting.

The meeting concluded with a motion to enter a second executive session, which was moved by Dr. Franks and seconded by Mrs. Wood, passing unanimously. The board indicated that no action was anticipated upon returning from the executive session.
