The PSJA Independent School District celebrated the academic achievements of its students during the recent School Board meeting on May 12, 2025. The spotlight was on the outstanding accomplishments of the district's top graduates, who have demonstrated remarkable dedication and talent throughout their educational journeys.
Among the honorees was Celeste, a graduate of PSJA North, who earned an Associate of Science in Biology through the PSJA Early College program. She plans to continue her studies in biology at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, showcasing the district's commitment to providing pathways for higher education.

Subscribe for Free Joshua Jude Alasso, also from PSJA North, was recognized as the salutatorian. He is a proud recipient of the QuestBridge Match and was named Channel 5's Student of the Week. Joshua has been an active member of his school's choir and has achieved the distinguished honor of being a Texas All-State vocalist three times. He, too, earned an Associate's degree in Biology and plans to pursue a degree in neuroscience and biology at the University of Notre Dame, one of the nation's premier Catholic research universities.
The meeting also highlighted the achievements of valedictorian Axel Santiago Can Do, who received the prestigious Welch Scholarship, covering his full tuition, along with the Impact Scholarship. An AP Scholar, Axel earned an Associate of Science degree in Mathematics and will pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin.
Additionally, Angela Marie Ramos, the salutatorian from PSJA Southwest Early College High School, was acknowledged for her academic excellence, further emphasizing the district's focus on fostering student success.
These accomplishments not only reflect the hard work of the students but also the support and resources provided by the PSJAISD, which aims to prepare students for future challenges and opportunities. The recognition of these students serves as an inspiration for their peers and highlights the importance of educational programs that empower young minds in the community.
