The PSJA Independent School District held a significant meeting on May 12, 2025, where they celebrated the academic achievements of their top students. The event highlighted the accomplishments of valedictorians and salutatorians from various high schools within the district, showcasing their hard work and future aspirations.
Angela, a distinguished AP scholar with honors, was recognized for her achievements, including the National Hispanic Recognition Award and her participation in the varsity orchestra. She earned an associate's degree in interdisciplinary studies from South Texas College through the PSJA Early College program and plans to major in mathematics at Texas State University.

Subscribe for Free Aislin Ramirez, the valedictorian from PSJA Southwest, was also honored. She is a UTRGV Luminary Scholar and an AP Scholar with honors, having earned an associate's degree in biology from South Texas College. Aislin intends to pursue a degree in nutritional sciences at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
The meeting also recognized Emily Flores, the salutatorian from PSJA Jefferson T STEM Early College High School. Emily graduated summa cum laude from South Texas College, received the PSJA dual language seal of biliteracy, and plans to major in medical humanities at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
Fernando Cantu, the valedictorian from PSJA Collegiate, was acknowledged for his achievements as an AP scholar and his associate's degree in computer science from South Texas College. He aims to continue his studies in computer science at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
Rodrigo de la Cruz, the salutatorian from PSJA Collegiate School of Health Professions, was celebrated for receiving the UTSA Terry scholarship and his accomplishments as an AP scholar. He earned an associate's degree in mathematics and plans to pursue civil engineering at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Lastly, Carla Gabriela Iturivatias, the valedictorian from PSJA Collegiate School of Health Professions, was recognized for her numerous scholarships, including the UT Dallas McDermott and Terry scholarships. She earned an associate's degree in interdisciplinary studies and plans to study finance at the University of Texas at Dallas.
This meeting not only highlighted the academic excellence of these students but also underscored the opportunities provided by the PSJA Early College program, which allows students to earn college credits while still in high school. The district continues to support and celebrate the achievements of its students as they prepare for their future endeavors.
