Each teacher received $1,000 for their classrooms and a complimentary lunch for their entire staff, further emphasizing the district's support for its educators.
The annual Teacher of the Year ceremony recognized outstanding educators, with Rosa Carrillo from Stone Oak Elementary named the elementary teacher of the year and Leanne Henderson from Johnson High School honored as the secondary teacher of the year.
The meeting also highlighted the success of the AVID program, which reported that its 2025 seniors received a remarkable $33 million in scholarship offers, with 100% acceptance into college or military service. This marks a significant increase from the previous year's $20 million in offers.
In extracurricular achievements, the JROTC programs from Reagan, Johnson, Churchill, and Roosevelt high schools recently excelled at the All Army and National Drill Championships in Daytona, Florida. The Reagan Armed Drill Team captured the All Army National Championship, while NEISD teams swept the unarmed division, with Roosevelt taking first place.
The meeting concluded with a recognition ceremony for JROTC cadets, where over $5.9 million in scholarship awards were announced. Notably, a senior cadet from Johnson High School received an appointment to West Point, highlighting the exceptional opportunities available to NEISD students.
