The Board of Education meeting held on May 13, 2025, in Utah celebrated the achievements of local high school seniors, highlighting the academic excellence and community involvement of valedictorians and salutatorians from various schools.
The meeting commenced with a warm welcome to attendees, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The focus quickly shifted to recognizing outstanding students from Stansbury High School, Grantsville High School, Wendover High School, Dugway High School, and Tooele High School. Subscribe for Free Stansbury High School's valedictorian, Bowen Thomas, was commended for his impressive academic record, including numerous concurrent enrollment classes. He plans to serve a mission in Cape Town, South Africa, before attending the University of Utah to pursue a degree in the medical field. Co-salutatorian Eric O'Bray will study plant science at Utah State University, while fellow co-salutatorian Ellie Dangerfield aims to major in chemical engineering at BYU.
Grantsville High School's Isabel Lewis, recognized as valedictorian, has earned over 40 college credits and plans to study history at Utah State University. Her leadership roles and commitment to integrity were highlighted, along with her achievements in music and sports. Salutatorians Ethan Morrison and Greenlee Heffaker were also acknowledged for their dedication to learning and community service.
Wendover High School's Raul Valle, a standout athlete and student body vice president, was named valedictorian, while Maria Fernanda Curielo earned the salutatorian title for her leadership and community involvement. Dugway High School celebrated Meredith Whalen as valedictorian and Charity Solace as salutatorian, both recognized for their academic and extracurricular contributions.
Finally, Tooele High School's Jake Jenkins, who maintained a perfect GPA and excelled in various activities, was named valedictorian, with Nick Reynolds as salutatorian. Jenkins plans to serve a mission in Barcelona, Spain, before pursuing engineering.
This meeting not only honored the hard work and dedication of these students but also reinforced the importance of academic achievement and community engagement within the school district. The Board expressed pride in the students' accomplishments and looked forward to their future contributions to society.
