Glenridge educators celebrate Orton Gillingham certification program's latest cohort achievement

During the recent Glen Ridge Board of Education meeting, significant strides in educational support were highlighted, particularly through the successful completion of the Orton Gillingham certification program by a new cohort of teachers. Director of Student Services, Mr. DeWitt, celebrated the achievements of four educators who have completed the rigorous two-year program in partnership with Fairleigh Dickinson University. This initiative, supported by the Glenridge Education Foundation, has now certified a total of 18 staff members in the Orton Gillingham method, a structured, multi-sensory approach to teaching reading.

The program began in 2018 and has evolved significantly, with the latest cohort contributing to over 2,000 hours of individualized reading instruction for struggling readers in the district. The training not only equips teachers with effective strategies but also fosters a collaborative environment where educators can share their experiences and insights.
