Robeson County school board approves new principal appointments across multiple schools

The Public Schools of Robeson County Board of Education meeting on May 13, 2025, focused on significant personnel changes within the district, including the appointment of several new principals across various schools.

During the meeting, the board recommended a series of principal appointments, which were unanimously approved. Notable recommendations included Tawanna Carey as the new principal at Townsend Elementary, Portia Broserton as principal at Pembroke Elementary, and Martha Lockler, currently an assistant principal at Fairmont High School, to lead Deep Branch Elementary. Other appointments included Rebecca Chavis Nolley at Shining Stars Preschool and Thomas Zach Jones at Kearl Elementary.

Each newly appointed principal expressed gratitude for the opportunity and shared their commitment to fostering a positive educational environment.
