Hinsdale honors Wellness House and announces Memorial Day procession

Under the warm glow of the village hall lights, the Hinsdale Village Board convened on May 13, 2025, to celebrate community spirit and honor those who serve. The evening began with a heartfelt proclamation recognizing the Walk for Wellness House, an event that has united residents for over two decades in support of individuals and families facing cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

Village President Greg Hart praised the Wellness House for its unwavering commitment to improving the quality of life for those affected by illness. This year, the Walk for Wellness House drew over 3,000 participants, symbolizing solidarity and hope within the community. Lisa Colaveno, CEO of Wellness House, expressed gratitude for the recognition, reflecting on the organization’s 35-year history of providing free psychosocial support to those in need.

As the meeting progressed, the board shifted focus to another significant occasion—Memorial Day. President Hart extended a special acknowledgment to the Hinsdale American Legion Post 250 for their dedication to honoring fallen service members. He announced a Memorial Day procession scheduled for May 26, starting at Hinsdale Middle School and culminating in a commemorative ceremony at Memorial Hall. This solemn event aims to remind residents of the sacrifices made by those who served in the armed forces.
