Bloomingdale High School celebrates first girls basketball state championship

The Hillsborough County Public Schools held a Recognition Meeting on May 13, 2025, celebrating the achievements of local student-athletes who have excelled in their respective sports. The event highlighted the remarkable accomplishments of both middle and high school teams, fostering a sense of pride within the community.

Among the standout moments was the recognition of the Bloomingdale High School girls' basketball team, who made history by winning the school's first state championship. Principal Dr. Marcos Rodriguez praised the team's dedication and hard work, while head coach Joel Bauer was honored as the Florida Dairy Farmers Girls Basketball Coach of the Year. Coach Bauer expressed his pride in the team's success, noting that four seniors from the team will continue their basketball careers at the collegiate level.

The meeting also acknowledged individual achievements, including swimmer Aiden Levine from Gaither High School, who excelled in the state championships by securing top placements in the 100-yard backstroke and butterfly events. Principal Tommy Morrow introduced Levine and his coach, Jennifer Aldrich, highlighting the importance of their accomplishments in promoting school spirit and community pride.
