Silt honors veterans during inaugural Military Appreciation Day celebration

Garfield County celebrated several noteworthy community events and achievements during the Board of County Commissioners meeting on May 12, 2025. Among the highlights was the recent Military Appreciation Day held in Silt, which featured historical displays, military vehicles, and a heartfelt tribute to local veteran Will Du Bois, who passed away in service. The Garfield County Library District received accolades for best customer service and was recognized as a finalist for its summer reading program. Notably, Anna Guyton, branch manager in Newcastle, was a finalist for best librarian, while Jamie LaRue took home the award for best librarian. These recognitions highlight the district's dedication to providing quality services to the community.

Furthermore, Commissioner Will was recognized as a finalist for the community hero award, underscoring the contributions of local leaders to the well-being of Garfield County residents. The meeting also welcomed four new trustees, signaling a fresh chapter in local governance.
