Commissioners approve Penrose RV and Boat Storage development plan with contingencies

Fremont County's Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) approved a commercial development plan for a new storage facility for recreational vehicles and boats during their meeting on May 13, 2025. The facility, located at 17225 State Highway 115 in Penrose, is set to enhance local storage options while adhering to county regulations.

The decision came after the applicant made significant revisions to the original proposal, addressing previous concerns about setbacks and compliance with local standards. Commissioners expressed appreciation for the applicant's efforts to align the project with regulations, emphasizing the importance of maintaining consistent standards for all developments in the area.

The approved plan includes several contingencies aimed at ensuring environmental safety and compliance. These include a hazardous spill procedure plan, a notice to proceed from the Colorado Department of Transportation for access permits, an approved noxious weed control plan, and Board of Health approval for the use of chemical toilets on-site. Additionally, a waiver for the refuse plan was granted as part of the approval process.
