The response was overwhelmingly positive, prompting them to expand their offerings and ultimately relocate to a larger space in Silver Spring, where they opened Manderley in February.

The restaurant's name, Mandalay, pays homage to the former royal capital of Myanmar, reflecting the family's desire to educate patrons about their culture and the geographical roots of their cuisine. Owner Jo Min emphasizes the importance of authenticity in their cooking, stating, "We keep our food traditional. We cook the food the way that we like to eat."
