NAACP Lake Elsinore celebrates Juneteenth with economic empowerment event at Diamond Stadium

The City of Lake Elsinore is gearing up for a vibrant Juneteenth celebration, set to take place on June 20 from 5 PM to 9 PM at Diamond Stadium. Lauren Venerable, chair of the NAACP Lake Elsinore branch, passionately presented the event during the recent City Council meeting, emphasizing its significance in promoting economic empowerment and civic pride. This year’s theme, “Boots on the Ground,” reflects a commitment to perseverance and community collaboration.

The celebration will feature a dynamic opening ceremony, performances, and a showcase of 30 local small businesses, aiming to foster inclusivity and support for local entrepreneurs. Venerable urged the community to attend and participate, highlighting the event as an opportunity to uplift local businesses and strengthen community ties.

In addition to the Juneteenth festivities, the council discussed the upcoming budget for the fiscal year 2025-2026. City Treasurer comments indicated that the budget preparation process is underway, focusing on transparency and fiscal responsibility. The city is committed to managing growth and increasing service demands effectively.

Council members also shared updates on various community events, including the Dream Extreme Fishing Derby and a barbecue bash on Main Street, both designed to engage residents and promote local culture. The council expressed gratitude for community involvement and the efforts of local organizations, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in addressing public needs.
