Soroptimist International hosts event highlighting women's empowerment in Norwalk

The Mayors Prayer Breakfast 2025 in Norwalk, Los Angeles County, kicked off with a heartfelt welcome from Sur Optimus International of Norwalk Santa Fe Springs, the event's host. The organization expressed gratitude to Mayor Ayala for the opportunity to lead this significant gathering, highlighting the hard work of the city’s Parks and Recreation staff in making the event a success.

Sur Optimus International is dedicated to empowering women and girls through education and training, offering scholarships to female heads of households and veterans, as well as mentorship programs in local high schools. They also support Soroptimist Village, which provides affordable housing for low-income seniors in collaboration with the Norwalk Housing Authority.

The event emphasized unity and community spirit, with attendees coming together to share in prayer and reflect on their collective strength. The master of ceremonies, City Manager Jesus Gomez, encouraged participation from the audience, urging them to pray for the city of Norwalk.
