This move, which received unanimous support, aims to strengthen the city's financial management and oversight.
The council addressed another safety concern by approving a crosswalk at the intersection of Carr Avenue and Broadway Street, further demonstrating its commitment to pedestrian safety. Both crosswalk initiatives were recommended by the public safety committee, which noted that the work would be conducted in-house by city staff.
The meeting also included discussions on various other topics, including a request for a parking space in the right-of-way at 908 Highland Road, which was approved, and a sign variance request that will be carried over for a public hearing scheduled for June 9.
Mayor Jones expressed gratitude to city employees for their efforts during the recent We Love Homewood Day, which faced challenges due to weather but ultimately succeeded in bringing the community together.
As the council continues to prioritize safety and community engagement, residents can look forward to these improvements enhancing their daily lives in Homewood.
