Michigan House welcomes Ojibwe Elementary students and special guests

Under the warm glow of the Michigan House of Representatives, a sense of excitement filled the air as students and adults from Ojibwe Elementary in Macomb Township gathered in the West Gallery. Their presence was celebrated by lawmakers, who took a moment to recognize the achievements of these young learners and their mentors.

“Make some noise!” called out a representative, prompting cheers and applause from the gallery, where 28 students and 16 adults stood proudly. This lively acknowledgment highlighted the importance of community engagement and the role of education in shaping future leaders.

As the session continued, Representative Mentzer took the floor to spotlight Gabby Durovski, a talented young artist and dancer, who was also in attendance. “Welcome, Gabby, to this House of Representatives,” he said, emphasizing the personal connection he shared with her family.
