Residents of Palmyra Borough raised pressing concerns during the recent government meeting on May 13, 2025, with discussions centered on infrastructure issues and community aesthetics.
One of the most urgent matters addressed was the growing sinkhole problem at the corner of South Harrison Street, near Babe's restaurant. A local resident reported that water runoff is causing significant dips in yards and has already led to a dangerous sinkhole that nearly caused an accident. The resident suggested that the borough should consider using shotcrete to stabilize the area and prevent further deterioration.

One resident expressed a desire to remove these signs, questioning the legality of doing so. Borough officials confirmed that the signs are not permitted and assured residents that they would take action to remove them.
The meeting also touched on the maintenance of public spaces, including the flags outside the municipal building and at the square. Officials clarified that the borough budgets for flag replacements and acknowledged the need for tree trimming to protect the flags from damage.
Lastly, a resident expressed opposition to the proposed park at the Legal Avenue corner, indicating a desire for more community input on such developments.
These discussions highlight the borough's commitment to addressing infrastructure challenges and enhancing the community's visual appeal, ensuring that residents' voices are heard in local governance. Moving forward, the borough plans to take action on the sinkhole issue and the removal of unauthorized signs, while also considering community feedback on future projects.
