Westminster Education Association secures salary increases for 2025 to 2027 school years

Westminster Public Schools is set to enhance its staff compensation and support following the approval of a new contract agreement during the Board of Education meeting on May 13, 2025. The agreement, which covers the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years, aims to retain current staff and attract new talent, reflecting the district's commitment to quality education.

Melissa Duran, representing the Westminster Education Association, reported that the licensed staff voted overwhelmingly in favor of the new contract, with 95% approval from 95 participants. The educational support professionals also showed strong support, with 70% voting yes. Despite a lower turnout compared to previous years, the results indicate a clear mandate for the new terms.

The approved contract includes significant financial commitments, totaling approximately $9.9 million over the two years. Key provisions include a 2% salary increase for licensed staff, adjustments for longevity, and additional support for educational support professionals. These measures are designed to enhance the overall compensation package and ensure that staff feel valued and supported in their roles.

The Board of Education unanimously ratified the agreement, highlighting its importance for the district's workforce stability and the quality of education provided to students.
