Greeley Outreach program aids 666 homeless individuals with housing and essential services

The Homeless Solutions Community Update meeting held on May 7, 2025, in Greeley, Colorado, focused on the ongoing efforts to address homelessness in the area. Jenna emphasized the importance of collaboration with local partners to identify vulnerable individuals and connect them with appropriate resources. The outreach team provided various forms of support, including 1,670 basic needs items, 285 assessments through the Vulnerability Index - Service Prioritization Decision Assistance Tool (VI SPDAT), and transportation services.

The meeting also featured a personal story shared by Jenna about a woman named Mary, who faced homelessness after losing her job and suffering a leg injury. Through the outreach program, Mary was connected to a local shelter, which helped her regain stability and find permanent housing.

Britney Gandy, operations manager for Catholic Charities Guadalupe Community Center, discussed the services offered at their facility, including emergency overflow shelter for single women and families. The center operates a low-barrier shelter that does not require identification or sobriety for entry, allowing individuals to access basic needs such as meals and rest. Britney noted that in 2024, 50 individuals engaged in resource navigation services, with 22 entering the transition to housing program.

The extended stay transition to housing program was also described, which requires participants to focus on housing stability and maintain a portion of their income. This program serves various demographics, including single men, women, families, and veterans, with specific capacities for each group.
